We done! We done!

That’s a direct quote from a sweet girl, immediately after taking her last chemotherapy pill. Such jubilation she had, and rightly so. She faced her cancer treatment with courage, and we were all celebrating with her when it was finally over.

I found myself thinking, “We done! We done!” when editing was complete, and then again yesterday when I placed my print order! I’ve been wearing so many hats that I’ve never donned before:

  1. writer of entire book
  2. editor
  3. eater of humble pie when it became clear that item #2 was not done as professionally as I would have hoped (to be fair, I’ve eaten humble pie before)
  4. graphic designer, which became one who gives feedback and suggestions to tweak a front cover completed by a professional
  5. humble pleader when putting on my brave pants and approaching busy professionals to consider endorsing my book
  6. marketer who writes promotional material
  7. typesetting advisor
  8. website designer over a series of months and then again all in two days due to my accidental deletion of my website
  9. social media influencer to promote myself (feels so awkward)
  10. approver of massive project to send it to the finish line

Yes! I placed my print order. All the tedious work over the last two-and-a-half years, all the migraines induced by sitting at a computer, all the back and neck aches from poor posture and lack of activity from computer work, all the emotional energy that has gone into creating something so personal–all of it has resulted in my first (and probably only) book being uploaded to a commercial printer.

Please go to my home page to see how you can pre-order a copy for yourself.

And I’m excited to share my final full cover layout!
